Engine to the Machine Shop

I disassembled the Chevy 327 engine and sent it to the machine shop to be reconditioned.  They reground the crankshaft and piston rods, rebored the cylinders, provided me new pistons to fit the new cylinders, ran the block through the hot tank and made it just like new again.  This is what it looked like when I got it back.

I now have to put it all back together.  Per Lees request the first thing I did was paint it orange like the original engine was back in the 60's.  I have also reinstalled the crankshaft and am in the process of putting the pistons back in but a problem occurred and I found the machine shop gave me the wrong bearings for the piston rods.  It has been a struggle to get this squared away but I expect the new bearings on Friday and then I will be moving again.

The pistons you see installed have since been removed again after I found the bearings were screwed up.
