Phase I of the Engine Done

I have completed the engine as far as I'm going until it is needed to install in the chassis.  This will be months from now.  The lifters, rockers, connecting rods, and valve covers were added today.  I also had to re-drill the crankshaft snout to put a larger bolt in it to hold the balancer.  There old engines originally did not have a modurn balancer on them so this was needed.

It is on its way to my storage facility by the end of this week.  This will help make room to get the body and chassis into the garage.

What is left for the engine is to add the front end accessories. (AC compressor, Alternator, Water Pump, Power Steering Pump, and pulley system.  Also, the throttle body, spark plugs, breather/PCV system, sensors, and brake vacuum connection.  Heres where I am at:

On the floor you see an old junk under-sink garbage disposal.  That crapped out this week so I had to take care of that also.

Liz and I were also up in the attic Saturday and Sunday replacing the two air plenums on our new HVAC equipment.  Why you say, if its new.  Don't ask.

Next week I will finish disassembling the Chevelle and separate the good parts from the bad.  Then we will move my Chevelle to storage and Lees car will go into the garage to have the body remove and put on a body buck I will build.  The buck is a stand on wheels that will strattle the frame with the body above.  With this system I will be able to roll either the body or the frame out of the garage independantly to work on as I want.  Hopefully that system will work.  I used a similar system when I build by 33 HotRod kit car and it worked pretty good.

Then I'll start tackling the body, removing all the paint and finding all the rust and taking car of it as need be.  I expect that part of the job to take 6 months.
