Working on the Floor
I'm back to working on the floor. I have completed removing the old floor which was done by cutting the floor around the edges with a zip cutter and then drilling and hammering away at the plug welds all around the edges. After a couple days I got it all out.
Remember the new floor fell over in a wind storm and was bent. I was able to cut a couple reliefs in the edge which allowed me to bend the floor back into shape. I was really happy about that. Below see that I have cleaned up the edges of the rock panels and sprayed weld through primer on them so they are ready to weld the new floor in. The floor is in place temporarily for now while I am completing the fitting. There was much bending and adjusting needed to fit the floor around the inner wheel wells and some other parts around the edges. This is normal.
Heres where I'm at. Fits pretty well around the wheel well now. Its being held in by clamps and a come along hanging from the ceiling. I was able to get this settup rigged so I didn't have to go get my neighbor to help. Had to take the floor in and out several times to get it right. Its close now. What I need to do now is take some real accurate measurements to ensure the body mounts attached under the floor will line up with the body mounts on the frame. It these are off too far because the floor not being in the exact location where it belongs then the car will not attach to the frame when complete. Big problem. Thats what I'm working on today...making sure I won't have a disaster later. I may have to put some zip screws in the floor to temporarily hold it and then lower the entire car down to the frame to absolutely make sure. Unfortunately this is a major, major task so I am putting it off unless I can't feel comfortable with the measuring.
Once I am convinced I can move forward I will remove the floor again and weld the inner rocker panels to it and drill/punch all the spot weld holes, grind of any paint where the welds will go and then reinstall the floor permenately. Then I will proceed to install the new firewall.

Love seeing all of this and watching it all come together!
