Final Engine adjustments and Trunk work
I have been consulting with some engine experts on a Holley forum as they found an issue with the Air/Fuel ratio when I posted a log of the engine idling. This has been going on for a week or so. They suggested I add a spacer under the throttle body to help with the air dispersion and change to a fixed orafice PCV valve. I did that and also removed the filter/regulator as it was causing incorrect fuel pressure in the system. It has been replaced with a better unit that is working perfectly. So, as of now the engine is in A-OK condition.
I have been working on the trunk at the same time. I have completed the sanding of the filler I used to smooth the transitions in the trunk and have also completed the paint removal and some dent repair on the trunk lid and the rear trunk panel. These parts are ready to be epoxied and mocked up per the schedule. It has been wicked cold here for a few days and that has messed me up. Too cold to paint and have to keep the garage closed with the heat on to do any work. Supposed to warm up in the next couple days but it is going down into the teens tonite. BRRR...
The trunk floor and trunk lid will be painted with black epoxy and will then be ready for the pre-paint preparation process that will comence after the entire car is mocked up.
Here where the trunk is at now:
The underside of the trunk lid is also stripped but I failed to take a pic. The side of the trunk which is also the inside of the qtr panels will be painted with a rust proofing texture paint. This should protect the area from rust and also will look nice. The trunk floor will eventually be covered with carpet.
I am off schedule now because of the engine issues but am am also very relieved that they are fixed now. I believe I can catch back up within two weeks if the weather holds up as it is supposed to.
